Difference between LTTS and The Way Up to Heaven

Just want to let you know that I worked until quite late just to think of this, so please enjoy!!!
*I am sure you can tell I am joking.

Well, lets start! The main difference between Lamb to the Slaughter and The Way up to Heaven is the way of murder presented in the story. In LTTS, the character, Mary Maloney directly kills Patrick, another character while in The Way up to Heaven, Mrs Foster indirectly kills Mr Foster, by leaving him in a trapped lift as she goes on a holiday. There is also another difference, in LTTS Mary kills Patrick because of a negative news which is told to her, while in The Way up to Heaven, Mrs Foster lets Mr Foster dies because the fact that she found out Mr Foster is deceiving her.

Now, for the similarity. The men in both stories have a certain dominance over the women in the story, but towards the end of the story, the women then overthrow the men and kill them instead. At the beggining of the story, both women are submissive and shy, not wanting to speak up in front of their husbands but after a high degree of impact is dealt on them, they killed their husbands, indirectly or directly.

NOW... FOR THE VERDICT.... I PREFER THE WAY UP TO HEAVEN MORE THAN LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER...
I just love the way the murder and deception is presented in The Way Up to Heaven.

PS: This is done after the reminder by Qiyuan so THANKS Qiyuan!!!

  5. Frankly, i think that Lamb to the slaughter is MUCH better than the way up to heaven. And I thought that Mrs Anu asked us for the differences, not the similarities. Other than that, it is a job well done. Keep it up!

  7. I feel that what you said of Mary Maloney directly killing her husband, I have never thought of that before. So as I thought it through, it is quite true, there is a difference in murder- LTTS is direct while TWUTH is indirect. Good analysis

  11. Hmm...very descriptive, Jack. Keep up the good work. Frankly speaking, maybe you could make your posts longer in the future? Overall, I think your blog is one of the best I have seen. Way better than mine I say. I myself like the story "The Way Up To Heaven" too. I like it as the writer did not tell us straight away that Mrs Foster had purposely left Mr Foster trapped in the lift to die. He lets us brainstorm for quite a while before knowing the real truth. That is all I am going to type today. Keep up the good work of making new much awaited posts!

  12. Hmm... this article is unexpectedly short. You should have analysed more, I believe. You should be well above 300 words for a good essay. Anyway, keep up the good work!
